Is Change Your Game?

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi
If you want to get different results in your business you need to be willing to play the game of CHANGE. The game of change has three simple rules:
- Change the way you think.
- Change the way you work.
- Quantify the results and begin again with Rule #1.
RULE #1 – Change the Way You Think:
Challenge your own beliefs and expose yourself to new ways of thinking by placing yourself into situations that expand your personal knowledge.
- Don’t be afraid to ask the “dumb” question.
- Be willing to let go of what you think is true.
- Read articles and books to expand your knowledge.
- Take a class that you feel will expose you to new concepts and ideas.
- Resource your industry peers to learn what techniques and concepts they use.
RULE #2 – Change the Way You Work:
Choose one thing in your business that you want to see a different result in and innovate the way your business does that one thing.
- Start by understanding how you currently think and feel about this one thing. Let go of any unproductive thinking and be willing to let go of frustration and blame that are associated with not getting the result you want.
- Clearly identify what you don’t like about the result you’re getting now.
- Cleary state and list what you want to be different.
- Identify what procedures need to change in order to get the results you want.
- Focus on procedures––NOT people.
- Hold people accountable for using the new procedures.
Rule #3 – Quantify the Results and Begin Again with Rule #1:
This is where most businesses fail––make your changes count by counting what changes! Quantify the results you get from working differently. Based on your results you will know if the changes you made are taking you in the right direction. As your information comes in, start again with Rule #1 and discover how your thinking has changed and what you have learned based on taking different actions in the business. Communicate results to your team and discuss what is working and what you want to tweak.
These three simple rules are a continuous cycle of business development.
