The Seven C’s of Success

Mary Duwe, CFP

The No. 1 reason financial advisors seek the assistance of a personal coach is to reach the next level of career achievement. Advisors often ask, “What is the most important area for me to focus for the greatest return?” There are pathways that lead to more success, and there are best practices to help you achieve them. Many factors influence the return you get on your investment, including time, talent and treasure. The path is best seen through seven different areas that demand your attention:

  • Clarity
  • Competence
  • Communication
  • Connection
  • Compression
  • Change
  • Challenge

I call these the Seven C’s of Success

What follows are several coaching tips for each of the seven C’s. The tips are meant to inspire and challenge you as you redirect your energy in an effort to accomplish maximum results through minimal effort.

1. Clarity

  • Be purpose driven: It will add meaning to life.
  • Be very clear about your intentions: You will accomplish more.
  • Be clear about what work fulfills you: You will become a powerful attractor.

2. Competence

  • Be a life long learner: You will never stop growing.
  • Explore a learning curve and stretch yourself: You and your clients will reap the harvest.
  • Make your client’s life the center of your attention: Your clients will benefit, but the bonus is, so will you.

3. Communication

  • Make everything richer by being authentic with everyone: Your relationships will deepen.
  • Make integrity your personal target for success: Your entire life will improve as a result.
  • Keep your word: It builds trust.

4. Connection

  • Know the true source of your passion: You were created to express it.
  • Be grateful for all that you have:  It leads to contentment and spiritual fulfillment
  • Know your mission: You were created to fulfill it.

5. Compression

  • Be a multidimensional creator: Accomplish more than one thing at a time.
  • Use moderation in all of your business efforts: You will experience less stress.
  • Maximize what you already have: It will strengthen your business.

6. Change

  • Leave what is working in place. Change what is isn’t: Your actions demonstrate your wisdom.
  • When making a change, make it a win-win: It expands the benefits exponentially.
  • Accept what you can not change. By surrendering all is conquered

7. Challenge

  • Appreciate everything you have ever been: It is the seed for all that you will become.
  • Take what is good and multiply it: It will activate the energy of prosperity.
  • Serve your clients as you wish to be served: It is the pathway to success.
